Dear OpenPhase users and interested scientists,

We are proud to announce the new release of OpenPhase, the Microstructure Simulation Suite, applicable to the entire chain: process --> microstructure --> material property.

The new Academic version (www.OpenPhase.rub.de) is available open source under the GNU GPL v3 license.

It enables skilled programmers to set up their projects with the flexibility to include their own modules.

The Academic version provides:

  • Full description of interface motion according to the Multi-Phase-Field approach,
  • Coupling to small strain elasticity,
  • Binary alloy transformation,
  • Lattice Boltzmann fluid flow module,
  • A new sintering module developed in collaboration with the Japanese National Institute of Materials NIMS.

The Studio version (www.OpenPhase-Solutions.com) is based on the Academic version and is fully compatible with it.

The Studio version provides an intuitive Graphical User Interface (GUI). It applies to the Academic version and all available OpenPhase-Extensions (OPE).

Extensions available by subscription are:

OPE-Studio: Graphical User Interface (GUI)

OPE-DIFF: Multicomponent diffusion module with coupling to thermodynamic databases

OPE-MECH: Finite strain elasticity and crystal plasticity.
